What do you do as a Strategist at The Oval Office?

As a Strategist at The Oval Office, you are at the heart of our experience-driven communication projects for clients such as Randstad, Google and bol.com. Various client requests and challenges pass your analytical desk. You understand the dynamics of the companies we work for and the industry in which they operate. You are a critical thinker and always ask yourself, the client and your colleagues the question; 'why’ and 'how'. Together with the Strategy Lead and Project Manager you will guide new briefings from clients, and work together to translate these briefings into compact, focussed and understandable debriefs.

An important aspect of working as a Strategist is generating insights that lead to distinctive and effective creative ideas. You look empathically at target groups and have an affinity for doing research. You will dive into our insights tools, analyze research reports and conduct surveys and interviews in order to get inside the head and heart of the target group.

You develop communication, campaign and event strategies (ranging from B2C to B2B and B2E) that contribute to our clients' business and communication goals. You love creating focus and structure and work independently on various projects on content frameworks, and (digital) campaign plans. As a Strategist you are able, under the guidance of the Strategy Lead, to ultimately deliver a complete proposal with a solid flow and present it convincingly to the client.

What is your day to day work?

  • You will analyze new requests and draft clear debriefs.
  • You delve into and analyze the client and the market in which the client operates, using various insights tools available from The Oval Office.
  • You draft and execute research approaches from A to Z, both independently or in collaboration with research agencies.
  • Together with the Strategy Lead, you set the strategic direction (B2B, B2C or B2E) of various client projects. In doing so, you give the creative team the strategic framework within which they can further shape the creative concept.
  • You can make strong, structured presentations that work towards solutions for complex customer questions, but know how to translate this into language that’s simple and easy to understand. 
  • You support in setting up workshops for your team members or clients. 

Who are you as a professional?

  • 2 - 5 years of work experience in a strategy role.
  • In possession of a bachelor's or master's degree.
  • Curious by nature and well developed analytical skills. 
  • A critical eye and strategic insight.
  • Proactive and entrepreneurial.
  • Be able to filter, cluster and structure complex information. 
  • You speak and understand Dutch
